Poem: You Should Know

Before we ever spoke
You broke all that was good
And noteworhty
Taking glimpses
Rather than waiting for gifts
Intruded in on a private space
Breaking in when I need it
Too good, but not good at all
You should just know
Though you're used to public glances
When compliments come easily
And you know the rules to the game well
Because you are beautiful and intelligent
I know all these too
I will not say that I am broken, wounded, or bruised
But I will build my walls a mile high
You should know...
