Poem: Gently Brighter

The sun rose on my face this morning
Letting honesty peer through
Looking ever so slightly
Through slots of partially drawn blinds
Gently conforming to the ripples and folds
Of my cream and wine dipped sheets
Ever so quietly waking
From my gentle slumber with sun kissed cheeks
Inviting me to see a new day
With its unwritten chapter
Where I can be honest
And stop the yelling match between heart and mind
Where sad love songs stop making sense
And frantic mental divides become pointless
Where I can trust that the things
I've locked up since I can remember
Will not shatter in the arms I've come to know and trust
Hope is still alive
Everything good is still alive
As the room gets gently brighter...
